Who We Are

Our Mission:

The American Red Cross’ mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Our Vision:

The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need.

Red Cross supporters provide a beacon of hope. From helping during disasters and ensuring access to lifesaving blood, to providing training to save lives and supporting military communities, the Red Cross is there when help can’t wait.

Our History of the Cascades Region:

For the past 100 years, the American Red Cross Cascades Region has been there for the people of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Since the establishment of our first regional chapter in 1917, the Red Cross has helped millions of people affected by disasters, including home fires, floods and other emergencies. Our disaster responders have deployed quickly to help support the needs of people affected by disasters big and small. From health and safety classes to lifesaving blood collection and support of military members, their families and veterans, the Red Cross is woven into the fabric of our community. What We Do

The American Red Cross’ mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Every day, we’re at work across the country helping individuals and communities prepare for disasters and other emergencies.

The American Red Cross is part of the world's largest volunteer network found in nearly 200 countries. An average of 90 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need. Everything we do depends on the needs of the people that we serve

About the American Red Cross in the Cascades Region:

In the Cascades Region, which covers the vast area of Oregon and Southwest Washington, approximately 2,600 volunteers provide response, relief and recovery services; save lives through health and safety training; provide assistance to active military members, their families and local veterans; and ensure we maintain a safe and stable blood supply for patients in need.
