Who We Are
Who We Are
The Hood River Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a group of dedicated volunteers who use amateur radio to support emergency communications in our community. We are part of a nationwide network of ARES groups, all working together to provide reliable, independent communication during times of crisis.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide emergency communications support to local, state, and federal agencies during times of disaster or other emergencies. We work closely with emergency responders, such as fire departments, law enforcement, and medical personnel, to ensure critical communications are maintained
What We Do
What We Do
- Training and Preparedness: We regularly train our members in emergency communications procedures, technical skills, and disaster response.
- Equipment Maintenance: We maintain a fleet of portable and mobile radios, along with other essential equipment, to ensure reliable communications.
- Emergency Response: When disaster strikes, we are ready to deploy to support emergency operations. This may involve setting up temporary communication networks, relaying messages, or providing other vital communication services.
- Community Outreach: We educate the public about amateur radio and its role in emergency preparedness. We also participate in community events to promote our services and recruit new members.
